Provide good protection for children

When every curb turns into a ski jump and every patch of land demands a slip, Tremor™ MIPS® is just the thing to make your smile grow bigger. Packed with some of the best technology in the adult range, such as in-mold construction to reduce weight and increase durability and Giro's popular Roc Loc® Sport adjustment system for fast, secure helmet adjustment, the Tremor is ready to go . Tremor MIPS models also feature an integrated safety system, the Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS), which redirects energy and enhances protection at specific impact angles, providing the most advanced head protection for entry-level riders.

Technology used

In this chapter we explain the technology used by the manufacturer in this product.

In-mold polycarbonate shell
Featuring in-mold construction, the sturdy polycarbonate outer shell is bonded to the impact-absorbing EPS inner shell in one operation as it is foamed. The helmet becomes stronger without any extra weight. This production process also results in significantly better ventilation systems and vents. In-mold helmets are lighter and have a significantly better ventilation system than traditional helmets.

MIPS
The MIPS® Safety System was developed to provide additional protection to helmets in numerous accidents. The MIPS system can reduce dangerous forces that could be transmitted to a helmet wearer's head during certain impact situations.

1. Traditional helmets are designed and tested for direct impact. However, in most cases, the impact is angled, which can cause rotational movement of the head.

2. This rotational motion can cause brain damage.

3. The design of the low-friction shell helps reduce rotational movement of the head in certain angled impact situations.

Straight line impact - oblique impact

The brain is generally more sensitive to rotational motion than linear motion because it has similar shear strengths to water or gels. When rotational motion causes different parts of the brain to move at different times, tissue can become stretched, causing concussions or other brain injuries.

Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions and more severe brain injuries caused by head-tilt impacts. The MIPS system consists of a low-friction shell that is secured to the inside of the helmet. The low-friction shell is designed to slide slightly inside the helmet in the event of an accident, keeping the force away from the head. Said to help reduce the risk of brain damage.

Most traditional helmets are designed for straight-line impact, but in most cases, impact occurs at an angle. Low-friction housing reduces rotational forces on tilt impacts.

Security system modeled after the brain

Unlike traditional helmets, which are designed and tested primarily for direct impact, the MIPS system's low-friction shell mimics the brain's own protective system against rotational motion. Cerebrospinal fluid is our natural defense system and allows the brain to deflect toward the skull.
